Haider is the youngest son in a traditional Pakistani family and he is married to Mumtaz. Both are bothered by the gendered demands within the family and when Haider takes a job as a backup dancer in a Bollywood-style burlesque, he quickly becomes infatuated with the strong-willed trans woman who runs the show.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joyland <\/span><\/i>is warm and loving feature film debut by Saim Sadiq. It premiered at Cannes where it was awarded both the Queer Palm and the Un Certain Regard.
