Queer Stories – A Walk In and Around the House of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts

Wednesday Sep 30 at 17.00, meeting in the Nike Hall, Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Konstakademin)

The history of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts holds many queer stories, expressions, and personal fates. During this walk, we search for their traces in the Academy’s house and collections. Here we encounter artists, works, and settings that speak of desire, identity, and norms — and of lives that, in various ways, broke with the conventions of their time regarding gender and sexuality.

The walk is led by Svante Helmbaek Tirén, curator of the Royal Academy’s collections.
