Gay USA

Cinema Queer brings this documental pearl from 1978 back to life! Composed of footage shot at a number of gay pride events around the United States in 1977, Gay USA captures a time just as the gay rights movement began facing the first organized backlash in the form of Anita Bryant and her campaign to repeal anti-discrimination protection in Dade County. Gay USA is the first American feature-length documentary by and about LGBTQ+ people and premiered the same year as the occupation of the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare. Therefore the film will be screened in the their old locations as a salute to this eventful year.

Screening: 19:00, 25 september.
